Goodbye toThe Acolyte!
TheStar Warsshow received its marching orders from Disney+ with the announcement there would be no second season.

Lucasfilm Ltd.
Why, you may ask?
Well, lets face it:The Acolyteis moreStar Warsfor the sake of it.
The Force, for example, nobody understood the Force.
But thats the way it is.
You give it up, you give it up.
Hence the reason everything feels like a bad David Guetta-produced remix of the original tale.
If they dont know whatStar Warsis, theyre doomed to create what they think it is.
One, does this address a longstanding question or part of the story that no one has covered before?
And two, does this push the franchise forward in a significant manner?
They think theyre doing something, but they ultimately spin off in another direction and fall flat.
These shows exist as purely content for Disney+ to put out in an effort to build a sizable catalog.
They arent in the business of creating unforgettable stories to be told for generations or to forge new legacies.
These shows are paint-by-numbers and safer than a middle managers position in a non-performing team.
Its vanilla entertainment designed to pass the time not to captivate the mind.
Spending less on what we make, and making less.
Of course, Iger speaks CEO here, since his statement is all about the bottomline.
Whether Disney possesses the acumen to fix this, though, remains open for debate.
After all, its a corporate company, driven by profit margins and shareholders demanding new yachts.
It will be loyal to the dollar not creativity in the end.
Perhaps common sense prevails and someone comes along who treats the franchise with the respect it deserves.
