Why do we keep chasing the same person when we are obviously the one who cares more?

It sucks to chase someone who seems semi-interested.
We make no sense.

Why do we keep chasing the same person when we are obviously the one who cares more?
Its because of the high we get when the person were chasing actually acknowledges our existence.
It doesnt happen often but thats what makes it so exciting.
We are excited when they put in the minimal amount of effort.
We are excited they actually noticed us for once, actually gave us a sliver of their attention.
We arent overly excited to hear from them.
We arent jumping up and down about getting a reply.
We expected them to answer, so we appreciate the sentiment less.
Its scary to think about how easy it is to take our loved ones granted.
