Hollow.
The first word that comes to mind when you love someone who will never love you back.

Because thats exactly what it is.
That it will make you happy.
That it will give you some sort of sense of satisfaction, of contentment.
Its an uphill battle where theres nothing waiting for you at the top.
A marathon with no one else at the finish line.
It leaves you completely hollow.

It can teach you a lot of things, but make you stronger?
Because the number one thing you learn when you love someone who doesnt love you back?
Its that sometimes, love really isnt enough.
Loving someone, andcontinuingto love someone who will not love you back isnt brave.
And it isnt strong.
Thats what trying to fill yourself with someone who doesnt truly love you is.
Because thats the cost of loving someone who does not, and will not love you back.
You wont lose this person who youve idealized, who youve loved unrequitedly.
So what does it honestly mean to love someone who doesnt love you back?
It means losing you, losing yourself.
So what do you do?
No matter how hard it is, no matter the struggle.
You have to let them go.
Because in letting them go, you know who youll get to hold onto instead?
And thats the only thing youll ever really need, anyway.
