Can you really separate the artist from his art?

Which makes me wonder: why the fuck are we still giving Chris Brown a platform?

Brown is a musician that, at this point, is mostly defined by controversy.

Back in 2009,Brown assaulted the famed songstress Rihanna, who he was dating at that point.

Though lets be honest: if it was anyone besides Rihanna, would people have cared so much?

Musicians, especially those at Browns level, are often pardoned for their actions.

Peoplecarethat its happening, but its not enough to halt his career.

Chris Brown is a similar phenomenon.

Just last year he wasaccused of threatening a woman with a gunin her own home.

So why do people continue to give Brown so many chances?

His documentary is full ofcelebrities gushing about him, including DJ Khaled, Jennifer Lopez, and Jamie Foxx.

At one point, Brown even says:

Im tired of giving people something to talk about.

I guess thats where the problem lies for me.

Why should we ignore what hes done just because he makes music people like?

But no matter how great his music is, it doesnt change the things hes done.

Can you really separate the artist from his art?

Its one of the biggest questions we ask today.

Honestly, Im not sure we can.
